Walking 4 Water is a non-profit educational fundraising activity of conservation 501c3 ECOLIFE FOUNDATION. Donations fully tax deductible.
Uganda: ECOLIFE Foundation has provided clean water for 650 school children as well as another 4,000 members of a community in Uganda by providing a borehole (deep well). Now we are moving forward to provide a large water catchment tank to collect rainwater for bathing and laundry; this conserves the valuable clean water provided by the borehole for drinking.
Kenya: ECOLIFE, in cooperation with Save the Elephants, is building a dormitory and providing a rainwater collection system for Samburu children who live at the West Gate School, next to the Samburu Reserve in Kenya. This means that the children will no longer have to cross the Reserve, risking encounters with wild animals, in order to get water from the muddy river there.
Mexico: The native people of Michoa- can, Mexico rely on firewood cut from the local forests for heating and cooking. The loss of trees for fuel, as well as illegal logging, threatens the monarch butterflies, who spend the winter there, and creates water pollution and erosion problems for the villagers. ECOLIFE builds fuel-efficient stoves in the villages and plants trees to restore the watershed to health.© 2009 Created by Rick Toone on Ning. Create Your Own Social Network
